On Monday, 19 March, University Professor Louise Fresco will present the Sustainable University Award 2011-2012 to the employee or student responsible for the best and most creative idea in terms of promoting sustainability at the UvA.

The award aims to make students and staff aware of the ways in which they can contribute to a sustainable environment.

The nominated ideas:

Venting heat into space - Theo van Lieshout
Green roofing - Jim Wiese, Cindy Reijers, Matthijs Beke, Christos Bountalis, Sofie Wagenaar, Esther Wapstra
Electric official car - Rian Verpalen
Plastic waste recycling - Martin Bekker
Development intern program - Rian Verpalen

Debate evening Green Docs 6: Sustainable City 020

Green Docs 6: Sustainable City 020, a debate and documentary evening, will take place after the presentation of the Sustainable University Award. This evening is organised by the UvA & HvA Sustainability Committee. After the short documentary ‘The Green Apple’, there will be a debate with Amsterdam councillor for energy and climate Maarten van Poelgeest.
