External funding is essential in order to be able to carry out scientific research. Funding sources, both national and international are under pressure and competition for the limited funding is increasing.
The Grant Support Team, part of IXA, supports UvA and HvA staff seeking for research funding or when applying for research grants. The deployment of their expertise increases the chance of success. This site offers you an overview of various grant providers, their mode of operating and programmes. This information is classified in national funding programmes and the European funding programme Horizon Europe.
If you intend to apply for a research grant and need further assistance, please contact one of our grant support advisors. Find your Advisor under the Support at Faculties section.
Our team has access to and/or is member of many networks, like the VSNU (the Association of Netherlands Universities), EUPMAN (the EU Project Managers Association in The Netherlands), LERU League of European Research Universities), NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research), RVO (Netherlands Enterprise Agency), the Horizon Europe sounding boards, and Neth-ER (Netherlands house for Education and Research). we make sure to share any relevant information with UvA researchers.
In order to facilitate researchers applying for research grants, we offer the support of our IXA-UvA's legal team. They can assist you with Consortium and Research Collaboration Agreements.
In many grant applications you have to provide input on societal impact and knowledge utilisation. This is the case for instance with most NWO grants, EU Innovative Training Networks (ITN), but also in the Research and Innovation projects within the Horizon 2020 Societal Challenges.
Societal impact and knowledge utilisation paragraphs describe how your research results will benefit society or how they can be useful for companies or organisations (like museums, charities, governments) and how you will collaborate with them to transfer your knowledge.
The Grant Support Team collaborates with the IXA business developers to help you with those paragraphs. Overview of IXA-UvA business developers
